Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: Corporate Encinitas - Encinitas, CAPosition Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $18.50 - $19.50Job Shift: AM/PM ShiftServer-Lead-Full TimeI. BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION:Responsible for assisting in the overall smooth running of dining and coffee house services, including the delivery, set-up, and clean-up of functions across the SV at EN Campus. Will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner to residents, family members, potential residents, and guests in an efficient and timely manner. Delivers room trays to apartments as needed. Assists in supervising and training servers/bus persons.II. CUSTOMERS/SERVICES:Residents, resident family and guests, Department managers, supervisors, support staff, outside vendors, and regulators.III. EDUCATION:High School Diploma preferred or working towards one. One year experience in a leadership role is acceptable.IV. EXPERIENCE:At least one year experience as a waitperson. Must be neat, clean, and wear required uniforms.V. SPECIAL SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS:Team player and leader. Food Handlers certificate. Able to pass pre-employment TB exam, physical, and obtain fingerprint clearance according to licenser.VII. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Understand responsibilities from opening to closing duties.
  • Maintain standards of food service to all residents.
  • Assist in supervising dining room and coffee house staff as per manual.
  • Understand emergency policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with Jewish dietary laws and assist in their implementation.
  • Properly train, coach, and guide staff.
  • Ensure professional attitude and service from waitstaff.
  • Monitor cleanliness of dining area and staff.
  • Supervise room and tray service and pickup.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies.
  • Answer department telephones.
  • Monitor and serve dietary functions.
  • Maintain food handler's card.
  • Greet and assist residents courteously.
  • Remember resident preferences.
  • Check service readiness.
  • Maintain communication logs.
  • Use computer for menus, seating, and assignments.
  • Review daily function sheets.
  • Ensure waitstaff complete side work.FACTORS AFFECTING PERFORMANCE:
  • Punctual attendance, flexibility for weekends, evenings, holidays.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Complete work timely.
  • Work well with others.MISSION & POLICY:
  • Familiarize with SV mission, policies, Jewish traditions.
  • Follow safety, HIPAA, and compliance policies.
  • Attend mandated training and report violations.VIII. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work in Mel's Place providing breaks.
  • Serve meals when staff is short.
  • Complete side work when short-staffed.
  • Create flyers for events.IX. OUTCOMES:Residents' nutritional needs met, documentation accurate, successful survey results.X. EQUIPMENT:Various foodservice equipment, cleaning tools, and computers.XI. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Stand, walk, reach, climb, lift up to 25 lbs, good vision and hearing, communicate effectively.
