Position Description As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities: Design and develop Simsei Simulation products including simulated laparoscopic trainers and simulated laparoscopic instruments. Design and develop solutions and improvements for tooling, fixtures, and devices/components Manage and assist in product development projects from concept through production release. Identify project critical paths in order to define project priorities and manage resources Develop contingency plans for alternative project paths as necessary Communicate project updates to management Provide engineering support to various teams such as Production, Quality Systems, Quality Control, Regulatory, Finance, Clinical Development and Procurement Perform sustaining, development, analysis, evaluation, testing and troubleshooting of finished devises, electrical systems and their respective components, sub-assemblies and test fixtures Review and evaluate non-conforming materials and address customer feedback Perform root cause analysis, propose and implement corrections and corrective actions Develop, qualify and update engineering documents such as manufacturing instructions, drawings, and test methods Design, investigate, develop and qualify new products, materials, manufacturing processes, fixtures and equipment Conduct evaluations, process capability studies, time studies, capacity and cost analysis and implement associated improvements Write test protocols and reports, conduct various testing, collect and analyze data and trends Maintain compliance with Design Control procedures including developing or updating Risk Management documents, conducting design and phase review meetings, and generating device specifications through the use of Design Input and Design Output documents Provide technical guidance to other team members and train as necessary on project management, product design, prototype generation and data analysis Position Requirements This position requires the following skills and attributes: Strong hands-on and prototyping experience with complex mechanisms Strong understanding of mechanical concepts and advanced manufacturing processes (heat treating, CNC machining, stamping, injection molding), mechanical and material stress anaylsis, designing for manufacturing, advanced 3D design work, preferable in SolidWorks, coupled with advanced 2D drawing detailing 5+ years of relevant engineering work experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent) Experience with computer-aided design (SolidWorks), spreadsheets, scheduling programs, and word processing Experience with technical writing Experience with designing components from scratch (not iterating on a previous design) Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Ability to effectively manage projects and work in cross-functional teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively present information Proven ability to creatively solve complex problems and generate multiple solutions Preferred The following skills and attributes are preferred: Experience in the medical device industry Understanding of manufacturing and quality standards, including ISO quality systems Experience withProduct Lifecycle Management software Experience with Minitab or other statistical analysis software Benefits Training and mentorship with ongoing learning and development courses On-campus wellness activities Comprehensive medical and dental and vision coverage Education reimbursement program 401(k) program with discretionary employer match Generous vacation accrual and paid holiday schedule Options Apply for this position online Apply Share Email this position to a friend Refer Sorry the Share function is not working properly at this moment.
