Our dedication to delivering the highest quality products and unique business positioning, provides our team members with the unique ability to contribute in a larger capacity than is possible in typical positions.Position DescriptionAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:Design and develop Simsei Simulation products including simulated laparoscopic trainers and simulated laparoscopic instruments.Design and develop solutions and improvements for tooling, fixtures, and devices/componentsManage and assist in product development projects from concept through production release.Identify project critical paths in order to define project priorities and manage resourcesDevelop contingency plans for alternative project paths as necessaryCommunicate project updates to managementProvide engineering support to various teams such as Production, Quality Systems, Quality Control, Regulatory, Finance, Clinical Development and ProcurementPerform sustaining, development, analysis, evaluation, testing and troubleshooting of finished devises, electrical systems and their respective components, sub-assemblies and test fixturesReview and evaluate non-conforming materials and address customer feedbackPerform root cause analysis, propose and implement corrections and corrective actionsDevelop, qualify and update engineering documents such as manufacturing instructions, drawings, and test methodsDesign, investigate, develop and qualify new products, materials, manufacturing processes, fixtures and equipmentConduct evaluations, process capability studies, time studies, capacity and cost analysis and implement associated improvementsWrite test protocols and reports, conduct various testing, collect and analyze data and trendsMaintain compliance with Design Control procedures including developing or updating Risk Management documents, conducting design and phase review meetings, and generating device specifications through the use of Design Input and Design Output documentsProvide technical guidance to other team members and train as necessary on project management, product design, prototype generation and data analysisPosition RequirementsThis position requires the following skills and attributes:Strong hands-on and prototyping experience with complex mechanismsStrong understanding of mechanical concepts and advanced manufacturing processes (heat treating, CNC machining, stamping, injection molding), mechanical and material stress anaylsis, designing for manufacturing, advanced 3D design work, preferable in SolidWorks, coupled with advanced 2D drawing detailing5+ years of relevant engineering work experienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent)Experience with computer-aided design (SolidWorks), spreadsheets, scheduling programs, and word processingExperience with technical writingExperience with designing components from scratch (not iterating on a previous design)Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Ability to effectively manage projects and work in cross-functional teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively present informationProven ability to creatively solve complex problems and generate multiple solutionsPreferredThe following skills and attributes are preferred:Experience in the medical device industryUnderstanding of manufacturing and quality standards, including ISO quality systemsExperience with Product Lifecycle Management softwareExperience with Minitab or other statistical analysis softwareBenefitsTraining and mentorship with ongoing learning and development coursesOn-campus wellness activitiesComprehensive medical and dental and vision coverageEducation reimbursement program401(k) program with discretionary employer matchGenerous vacation accrual and paid holiday scheduleOptionsApply for this position online Apply Share Email this position to a friend Refer Sorry the Share function is not working properly at this moment.
