including OB as needed.Employee Class: Career Position Summary: The
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist will perform all duties and
tasks under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist. The
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist may be assigned to the
following shifts: 6:30 AM-7:00 PM; 9:00 AM-9:30 PM; 11:00 AM011:30
PM, including weekends and holidays and to various ORs and
specialties including OB as needed. Under the supervision of an
anesthesiologist, perform safe anesthesia care, consisting of the
following: pre- operative assessment, writing of appropriate pre-op
orders as specified by approved standard procedure, administration
of all types of anesthetic and techniques, patient monitoring
intra-operatively, provides for safe intra-op course and emergence
and assists as necessary in post-operative care. Total

Rate) External candidates hired into the Senior Certified
Registered Nurse Anesthetist classification (Job Code 007865) a as
of 3/4/2024 to 7/31/24 are eligible for a $20,000.00 sign-on bonus.
Payment terms will be $10,000.00 paid to active employee after
completion of six months of employment and the second payment of
$10,000.00 will be paid to active employee upon completion of one

and critical care techniques as evidenced by the following:Skill in
performing pre-operative assessment of surgical patients,
including: Identification of pre-existing disease entities and
their potential impact upon anesthesia care and plan through
documentation of past medical history, physical examination,
laboratory tests, ECG and chest X-rayUnderstanding interactions of
pre-operative drug therapy with proposed anesthetic plan and agents
for all age groupsIdentification of abnormalities on physical
examination which pose potential problems in anesthesia
managementUnderstanding the medical indications for delay of
elective surgery and for pre-operative specialty
consultationAbility to explain the proposed anesthetic technique,
alternatives, risks and problems, thus obtaining proper documented
legal informed consent prior to the administration of
anesthesiaAbility to properly and completely document significant
information to form an anesthesia record of pre-operative,
intra-operative and postoperative eventsSkill in determining
patient need and indication for various monitoring modalities,
including arterial lines and Swan Ganz pulmonary artery
cathetersAbility to safely insert venous and arterial monitoring
lines and devices under medical direction of
anesthesiologistKnowledge of pharmacology, dosage, side effects and
contraindications of all drugs currently employed in anesthesia
practice at UCI Skill in performing all techniques of monitored,
regional and general anesthesia commonly employed at UCI for all
age categoriesSkill in identifying adverse effects of all
anesthesia techniques and in initiating emergency treatment while
informing the attending anesthesiologist responsible for the
anesthesia care of the patientKnowledge of cardiac, respiratory,
neuro, endocrine and renal physiology as these relate to
intra-operative events and managementSkill at recognizing airway
abnormalities and the associated anesthesia implicationsSkill in
airway management techniques, including safe insertion of nasal and
oral airways and performance of laryngoscopy and endotracheal
intubation for establishment and maintenance of surgical procedure
Skill in identifying the required safe level of insensibility or
narcosis for each individual patient and surgical procedureAbility
to recognize return of consciousness and reflexes signaling safe
emergence from anesthesia, transport of patient to recovery room
and informed report to qualified medical personnel who will assume
care of the patientAbility to recognize post-operative
complications of anesthesia, initiate emergency treatment when
indicated as directed by the attending anesthesiologist, and
document appropriatelyAbility to assist in cardiopulmonary
resuscitation and other emergency situations by recognizing cardiac
arrest and shock, initiating CPR, airway management techniques and
insertion of monitoring lines under the direction of an
anesthesiologistAbility to perform selected educational supervisory
and administrative tasks, including supervision of student
anesthetists when assigned, and assessment of orientation and
